Mulzer Crushed Stone Supports Global Giveback Effort

Volunteers from Mulzer Crushed Stone Inc., a CRH company, joined with 600 other volunteers to pack more than 147,000 meals for needy children around the world through Feed My Starving Children, a global world relief organization focused on children’s nutrition in third-world countries, the last weekend of September at Santa Claus United Methodist Church.

As a corporate sponsor of the Santa Claus, Ind., MobilePack Event, Mulzer Crushed Stone donated funds to purchase more than 2,200 meals, in addition to sending 11 volunteers to help pack boxes at the church.

Feed My Starving Children – based in Coon Rapids, Mich. – hosts MobilePack events throughout the country where volunteers pack and palletize meals for distribution around the globe. Each MobilePack site, in this case Santa Claus United Methodist Church, is responsible for raising the funds to purchase the ingredients the volunteers pack in meal boxes.

“Mulzer Companies has a long tradition of giving back to the communities we live and operate in and Feed My Starving Children is an organization and event that our employees and their families wanted to be a part of,” commented Ken Mulzer, Jr., president at Mulzer Crushed Stone. “We were proud to sponsor the event and even prouder to support the employees who volunteered to help pack meals in their free time.”

Eleven volunteers from the company, along with family members, attended packing sessions at the church during the MobilePack event. “Not only was this event an opportunity to positively impact the lives of children all over the world, it was a fun, rewarding experience I was happy to share with my co-workers,” remarked Gloria Allen, HR director at Mulzer Crushed Stone.
